I experimented on an old pair of canvas tennis shoes (faux Keds) from Wal-mart, using red & blue Sharpie markers. They did bleed a little, perhaps the thinner markers might not? I'm pleased with the results. Unfortunately, my WM does not sell these any more, so I'll have to find a new source.
