I lightly sanded the clay pots (purchased cheap at Kmart) and then painted with acrylic white.
I then painted the pots in colours to compliment my Mom's living room.
The kids had a blast with this part - lightly sanding the pots to "distress" them.
Finally, a coat of watered down black acrylic to make the pots look "dirty".
